Setting Your Table for Mothers Day & Memorial Day

April oh April, how I missed you so. This might be biased, but April just might be the best month of the year. Our last frost is on the horizon and the smell of spring is anticipation you can feel. We’re back again with another table setting, and I gotta say this one is my favorite yet. Since it’s April, we’re looking ahead to get ideas on how to set the table for the coming holidays, Mothers day and Memorial day. Now you may be wondering, how on earth can you honor both of those at one time? Well let me show you.

Since this table setting is my favorite, I’ve included multiple shots of it just to show it off from all angels. Of course we have our classic, timeless and high quality Mikasa Bone China set as the base as it is in all the table settings. We’re reusing a table runner we’ve used many times, but its rustic elegance adds a charm I simply can’t deny. And while we’re talking about recycling styles, we’re using the same red Fletchers Mill salt and pepper grinders we used for our December table setting.

Now, we’ve added a few new things. The first thing you might notice are the beautiful poppy napkins sitting on the plate. Poppies are a way to honor the memory of those fallen defending our country, so to celebrate Memorial Day we added that detail to highlight something significant. It’s less than $6 for the whole pack, and they’re sure to be used up and not go to waste.

Next, we added a butter bell. These might be one of my favorite things we carry here at the New Kitchen Store, and the main reason being I love something that is aesthetically pleasing just as much as I love perfectly soft butter. This one has a welcoming rustic feel that’s still light and airy with the delicate flowers adorning it.

And lastly, I added a couple of Hoosier Mama cook books to be the base of the centerpiece for the table setting. I thought this was a funny play on words, since it is Mothers Day after all that we’ll be celebrating soon. Not only are these cookbooks just great to flip through and recreate, but they’re beautiful with their sage green accents to tie in with the butter bell and once again, just create a farmhouse feel that warms the home.

I hope you loved this one as much as I did. We have all these items available in store for purchase, and as far as the butter bell is concerned there are so many other colors and patterns here that will definitely not only be functional but fit the style of your kitchen.

Till next month,
